The name of the castle that fortunately means "Luck" is the water castle surrounded by the western inlet of the Baltic sea called "Flensburg Firth or Fjord" in the town of Glücksburg, Germany:

It is not unusual that German castles have the same as the town's name, so the castle of Luck is situated in the town that is also called "The Castle of Luck". As the matter of fact, the name of the town and the castle is belonged to the house of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg or house of Oldenburg. "Glücksburg" is a family name which means "The Castle of Luck".

The castle was built in 1582-1587 for the Danish King John II or the Duke of Sonderburg. Flensburg is the German-Danish border city :

The north gate of the city shows the coats of arms and slogans of the town:

The coat of arms of the Danish King Christian IV on the left with the text "Piety strengthens the Realm" and the coats of arms of Flensburg city with the text "Peace nurtures, strife devours".

As Flensburg was under the Duchy of Holstein and Schleswig, his statue is still on the quaint fountain at Nordmarkt. The north of Germany has the exit to the sea, therefore the city is not only the boarder city, It is also harbour city in the Baltic sea. The plaque of the steam engine ship, built in 1908 by the company from Hamburg, encraved the type of the ship called "Salondampfer":

The castle is relatively small in comparison to other German castles:

In the inner courtyard of the castle, the fencing area stands ............

The former castle nursery that is now rosarium,  you need to buy a ticket to visit this area:

In 1945, the appointed president of Nazi Germany and the rest of his government fled to Flensburg and were captured by British troops. The courtyard of this castle is where the British soldiers came in search for the leader Heinrich Himmler and his successor. The area of the chapel on the ground floor of the castle was flooded to make the pond. A part of cemetery still can be seen as well (near the left tower front):

They captured the prince Ferdinand of Holstein and took the jewelry from the coffins. His memorial stone is located near the castle as he was the head of the foundation:

In order to build the castle, the monastery called "Rude Kloster" is demolished in 1582. The history of the church is written on memorial stone that it was there from 1210 to 1582:

The castle is luckily not destroyed during the wars and remains like this over 400 years!:

The surrounding park is nice in summer for visitors to enjoy the view:

The Castle of Luck is just the name that has right meaning after all. However, it is still better than nothing at all. Good Luck!
