An adventurous place for people who like medieval scenery at the seashore. The sea fortress is located in Finland. How did we go there? Let's start with the ship to Suomenlinna from Helsinki harbour:
The city center looked rather busy in summer because of seasonal/summer tourists coming here to enjoy summer with the local people:
Take the ship number 19 from Kauppatori to Suomenlinna:
Once your are on board, the ship runs directly to the sea fortress passing some small islands that you may wish to visit either by private ships or waterboats:
Do you wish to build a house on this island? It does not look like electricity would be available there:
After a while, you will arrive at the pier. Time to get off the ship:
It seems to be a touristic place for sightseeings and hiking on this island. It was declared as one of the world heritage sites in 1990 for its unique military architecture:
Some paths are rather steep, but it is worth to walk up to get a nice view. From this point, we heard of a girl screaming. What could be scary on this island?? People seemed to be happy and relaxing at the seashore:
What a tiny beach!:
The surroundings are natural and wilderness in some areas. Of course, there are some military bunkers :
Some scattered military secret bunkers are open to the public, you could see the interior. instagram.com/spicesbowl :
Some are hidden or covered with grass:
It is interesting to walk through the wet tunnel, but dangerous if you do not wear proper shoes and get some light on:
Big boulders, stones are lying around in the tunnels:
There must be some renovations from time to time, as the shape of tunnels are not the same style:
Finally, you will reach the end of hiking path on this sea fortress, probably the highlight of this place, the King's gate:
It is quite windy at this port, follow the path back to the same place to take the ship back to the city center:
As you can see, the sea fortress is not far from the city center:
The sea fortress is the biggest one and not in remote area, the soldiers would get supply from the mainland regularly. How attractive that is, so let us capture (the scenery of) the sea fortress!
