In Switzerland, you can find some local cherry festivals or the most known one, Cherry market in Zug where the famous chubby sweet cherries are cultivated, grown and produced in and around this city:

In general the trees are located in private areas, not in a public park where you can make a picnic. Nevertheless, you can go there and buy cherries in local farmer shops. The Cherry market in Zug is held each year around July at the same place in the old town square. In 2019 it will be from 24th of June to 5th of July, Monday to Friday - 3 pm to 6 pm:

On sunny days or at the weekends, there are more visitors. The stands usually sell cherries and other products made from cherries:

Many colors of Swiss cherries are sold only in this market, not in the supermarkets. Either you try and buy cherries from this market, otherwise you have to find out where the farm shops are located.

They have various sizes, colors and prices:

Other products such as cherry juices, cherry beer, cherry cheese and cherry sausages are sold only at this market as well:

Sometimes, you may find some new products from cherries like Balsamico from cherries:

Once you have Swiss cherries on your hands, you will see that they are quite big. A perfect chubby Swiss cherry is used as a decoration on the cake or a bowl of Swiss cherries as a summer decoration on your dining table.

After visiting a cherry market in Zug, Switzerland, you can walk around in this square. There is an original cherry cake from a bakery shop near the cherry market that contains cherry brandy or "Kirschwasser", called "Zuger Kirschtorte" = Cherry brandy cake of Zug:

The cake is different from the black forest cake, it has no chocolate layers, no whipped cream and sadly no cherries as decorations, but it has very strong alcohol taste.

You can only try to bake it at home if you have Swiss cherry brandy. Check out this item on our products. Thank you!
