The Spooky Town

Are you easily scared by the odd surroundings? If not, let us take you to a spooky town where the witchcraft festival in held each year in summer (not in winter), located in a medieval citadel. The town is called Triora, located in the Liguria region of Italy:

When it is foggy or cloudy, the atmosphere makes the town look creepy and mysterious:

Especially, if you are the only one who would walk in the town. Would you think what is going on in this world?:

The name of city means "Three mouths of Cerberus". It is a dog guardian of Hades in the Italian Alps as you can find the image in the coat of arms of this city when you visit there. According to the history, a noble woman was claimed to be a witch and was captured in a cell:

It was the last witch trials in Italy, many children and women were tortured and died. The entrance of the captive cells:

The process was from 1587 to 1589. There are many other sacred places in this area:

One of them is the poorest area where the gatherings and other mysterious activities would take place at night:

Another witch gathering would take place in a remote area on the holy day of rest, "Sabbath" somewhere in the deep forest surrounded with lavenders and walnut and hazelnut trees:

This view was taken from Triora to Andora, the town nearby on the cloudy day. There is a "Home of Meggia" that the noble woman, "Isotta Stella", who was claimed to be a witch and died there. It became a tourist attraction:

The church is easy to be seen from the entrance of this town, you can park your car and walk up to the town:

If you travel with mountain bike, you can ride up there as well. A sightseeing in this town was quite charming and thrilling at the same time. Have a spooky day!
